Unique RFID technology optimized for Smart Factory is now released

'Optical RFID' is a new type of RFID technology created by fusion of visible light communication and RFID technology.

Briefly, it is based on existing RFID technology, but the reader commands are transmitted using modulated LED light.

Since the tag is recognized only when exposed to LED light, even though there are many adjacent tags, only the desired tag can be selected and read. In addition, not only one tag within the LED range, but also multiple tags can be read simultaneously. Optical tags provided by IDRO support ISO 18000-63 and Optical RFID functions at the same time, so the user can select and use the necessary functions. All these functions operate in a fully passive manner.

The biggest advantage of Optical RFID compared to general RFID is that there is no Stray Reading.

In the case of the existing UHF RFID, to prevent misrecognition of adjacent tags, the RF output was reduced or a shielding agent was used, and filtering was performed by software. As another method, HF RFID is also used, but it has a disadvantage in that the recognition distance is short.

However, Optical RFID can be solved simply by adjusting the range of LED light.

That is, the recognition range can be adjusted by adjusting the LED lens of the antenna without additional setting. This results in increased tag recognition accuracy, which in turn improves productivity.

The fields most suitable for optical RFID application are as follows.

  • Smart Factory RFID System
  • Conveyor RFID System
  • Process Management System
  • PCB Tracking System
  • Etc
